Introduction
The Pashto department started its activities in the year 2004 with the establishment of the university within the faculty of education of Paktia University. In the year 2009, it presented the first graduates of language and literature to serve the society and since the year 2009, as an independent department, it has been training students in the field of Pashto language and literature and serving them to the society.
The first head of the department was Associate Prof. Yar Mohammad Paktin, after his Assist. Prof. Mohammad Daud Mangal, Assist. Prof. Nora Jan Atif, Assist. Prof. Sultan Mohammad Hanafi, Assist. Prof. Mohammad Naeem Wisal, Assist. Prof. Mohammad Daud Mangal, Assist. Prof. Mohammad Naeem Wisal for the second time and the current head is Assist. Prof. Kamal Din Khan Kamal.
The department has six lecturers, all of whom have master's degrees and one of them is pursuing doctoral studies in Russia.
The Pashto department has presented 475 graduates from year 2009 to year 2023 to serve the community. Apart from free service students, students are also studying in the in-service department.

Pashto Department will lead in Literature teaching, research and providing Professional academic services throughout the country.

Assist. Professor Kamal Din Khan Kamal, son of Haji Gulbadin, was born in Lakki Marwat, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan during his migration in 1986. He completed his primary and secondary education up to class 10 in the same city. He also completed a six-month course in IT. He came to Afghanistan in 2003 and continued his education at Khushhal Khan High School in Kabul. He graduated from the same high school in 2004.
He passed the entrance exam to the Pashto department of Sheikh Zayed University's Faculty of Education in the year 2006 and graduated from the department with high marks in the year 2009. He was appointed as a lecturer in the Pashto department of the Faculty of Education of Paktia University in 2010. He joined the Pashto department of the Faculty of Languages and Literature of Kabul University in the 2012 for his master's program and graduated from the same department in 2014. Currently, he is performing its sacred duty as a lecturer and head of the Pashto Department of Paktia University's Faculty of Education.
He has been a collaborator in all cultural affairs of the university and has published various scientific and literary articles in scientific, literary and cultural magazines and journals.
