1. An overview of this academic program
The Department of Judgment and Prosecution was established in 2013 in the administrative structure of Law and Political Science Faculty of Paktia University. It has 9 academic staff members. Assistant Professor Mohammad Yousuf “Zamani” took over the affairs as Head of the Department by order of Ministry of Higher Education on 1/12/2019. This Department was managed beforehand by the Acting Head.
According to the curriculum and bachelor’s degree regulations provided by the Ministry of Higher Education, the Department of Justice and Prosecution covers its course in total of 8 semesters. Maximum of the Department subjects are taught according to the length of the course and between a minimum of 136 credits which doesn’t exceed from 21 credits per semester. Each educational semester is 16 weeks long. One credit subject can be described as one credit per week. One credit takes 50 minutes theoretical lessons. It becomes 16 of 50-minutes long theoretical lessons per semester. Also, two periods of practical and laboratory work equals to one period of theoretical lesson. The curriculum includes a maximum of 30% basic subjects, at least 50% professional and specialized subjects, and 12% optional subjects. This bachelor course encompasses the mentioned division of subjects. After completing of this course studies, the students of this Department are recognized as graduates at bachelor level.
2. Vision
In the field of law and legal system, this Department intends to be as high quality and standard institution which is based on Islamic and international standards, and it aims to shine by coming at the row of 3 top educational institutions in country and 10 top educational institutions in the regional level.
3. Mission
Based on religious and national values, the Department aims to educate young generation (lawyers, attorneys, judges, legal consultant etc.) on the basic of a standard and unified curriculum with a bachelor's degree for the purpose of sociology, understanding, participation and success in society. Along with their academic, professional and practical academia, the lecturers of the Department strive to make students attain professional knowledge and expertise which cause building transparent justice sector, bringing of good governance, ruling of law, and providing of effective services through practical and theoretical teaching. In addition, it intends to provide opportunities for the people to get knowledge of the legal system better and to enjoy the great divine blessings of freedom, security, peace, progress and prosperity through better experience of justice.
